5 Stars Learned a lot from reading this book,
I’ve been reading this book the last few days and so far I’ve learned a lot. I’m about to be a mom for the first time and this book has helped answer a lot of questions I had, especially about breastfeeding.
4 Stars A little dated, but good information
I would recommend this book as a good go-to reference book for the first year. It hasn’t been updated in since I think 2005, so some of the info is a little dated, but it’s still good information.
5 Stars great value
If you are going to buy 1 book on the first year (which is really all you need) this is a great choice. There is a lot of information on breast feeding and the first month. The chapters after that group months together, but after the first month, I didn’t feel the need to consult a book constantly anyway. This is a great value.
5 Stars Awesome Informed Knowledge!
I purchased this book before my baby was born, along with Heidi Murkoff’s book. I must say this book helped me the most, it’s almost like talking to your pediatrician. It is sectioned differently than other 1st year books, as it clumps the months into threes or fours. It also includes a first aid section and a section with common illnesses. I used it as a reference every time my baby got sick, and it helped when I actually did bring her to the Doctor because I already had a general idea of what they were talking about. It also has great advice and unlike other books, which seem to contain lots of opinions, this one is actually backed by the AAP and scientific studies. The developmental milestone sections are also great. This is the only book that I felt confident following advice from.
4 Stars Fabulous Resource
This book really is helpful. There are so many books out there for each week and month of pregnancy, but I couldn’t find a really good one for childhood. This one is really great. It is detailed (doesn’t just say ask your pediatrician) and brings up a lot of stuff that I never would have thought of. The only drawback is that the index is a little screwy. It is not always a hundred percent accurate. It is easy to work around it though.

I highly recommend it to all new parents.” (Running time - 38 minutes.) 5 Stars very effective method
This baby calming method is very effective. I work in post partum and we have this video available for new families to watch and I use the techniques with babies in the nursery. So I buy this video or the book for all my friends that have babies. Best gift ever.
5 Stars Happiest Baby on the Block….makes happiest parents on the block
This is one of the best gifts to give to a new parent. The information in this video really works. It is a life saver….really it is a sleep saver, maybe even a marriage saver and a sanity saver.
4 Stars Somewhat helpful at the time
This dvd is easy to understand and makes a lot of sense. It may work great for you, and is well worth checking into. It helped a little for us, although we didn’t realize it the first few days that our poor little guy was not getting enough milk. I hope this is the answer for most others. I think it’s way better than the Dunstan method, which was a complete failure for us.
5 Stars OMG!!!
This DVD is wonderful and I suggest it over the paperback version. The instruction is much easier to follow and can be quickly applied to your little one. First time using the method it worked and then over the next few weeks used variations of the methods. Shushing and swaddling in combination are still winners!
5 Stars Wish I saw it before my baby came!
Yes, the techniques are simple. Yes, it’s easy to do, but I disagree that the 5 s’s are instinctual. They are not all instinctual. You’re told over and over not to shake your baby and be gentle, so who would think that a GENTLE shake would be what they need? I can see how people might think purchasing this is a bit of a waste of money though. I rented it from the library, watched it twice and sent it back. My baby was too old for the techniques to be useful anymore, but I will SURE whip them out when #2 arrives! Get this from the library or you could even finds some demos on youtube!
